Seeding info for the CSC Summer Invitational

June 15, 2009

Dear Coaches and Meet Entry Chairs,

Since sending out the preliminary psych sheet and timeline last week, we have worked to reduce the length of particularly the Saturday and Sunday afternoon sessions.  Accordingly, we have made the following schedule adjustments:

1.       All Friday afternoon events, and all Saturday and Sunday events, EXCEPT the 800 and 1500 freestyles, will be swum with the fastest heat first and the slowest heat last.  This will cut down on the delay that often accompanies early heats of an event;

2.       In the morning sessions, all 11/12 and 10 and under events will be seeded together, by gender (11/12 men will be seeded with 10 & under men).  The events will then be seeded fastest to slowest.  When scored, each event will be scored according to its listing by age group in the Meet Information;

3.       In the afternoon sessions, all 13-14 and Open events will be seeded together, by gender (13-14 women will be seeded with Open women).  The events will then be seeded fastest to slowest.  When scored, each event will be scored according to its listing by age group in the Meet Information;

4.       In the Sunday afternoon 800 and 1500 freestyle events, which are limited to 40 swimmers, the swimmers in the fastest heat will swim alone and that heat will swim first, alternating women, then men.  Thereafter, women in the four remaining heats will swim two to a lane—using chase starts; followed by men in the four remaining heats, in the same fashion—BUT again alternating one women’s heat followed by a men’s heat;

5.       We will NOT use chase starts in any event except the 800 and 1500 free.  We WILL, however, use very aggressive (consistent with safety) fly-over starts for all events;

Additional notes:

·         In the Psych sheet previously sent to you, PLEASE NOTE:  Several distance freestyle times had to be adjusted for Altitude changing the order of swimmers.  No swimmer was added to an event, however, the seeding of some swimmers has been altered as a result of these altitude adjustments.

·         In the interest of keeping the meet as efficient as possible, please be mindful of the scratch deadlines.

o        The scratch deadline for all Saturday events is 6pm Friday evening.

o        The scratch deadline for all Sunday events is 6pm Saturday evening.

From: Julie Boyle [mailto:boyle190@yahoo.com]

Dear Coaches and Entry Chairs,

Attached is the preliminary time line for the CSC meet next weekend. As you can see this meet is very full.

Saturday morning is a little tight.

Saturday afternoon should finish around 8 pm after the 400's are reduced to 4 heats.

Sunday afternoon looks like even when we cut one heat of the 800's we’ll still end around 10 pm.

I would like to remind all coaches that the SCRATCH DEADLINE is 6 pm on the previous evening for each day's events. If you know of any swimmers that will not be attending, or are planning on scratching an event PLEASE let us know in advance so we can run the most efficient meet possible.

If you have any questions please let me know.

CSC Summer Invitational Acceptance

May 19, 2009

Dear Coaches and Meet Entry Chairs:

Thank you for your entry this year to the CSC Summer Invitational.  Your entry has been accepted.   We are all looking forward to a fun and fast meet!  The meet is now full with 25 teams from 5 states and more than 650 swimmers.    Here is how we will proceed from this point until the meet:

  • I will be contacting each team individually by email with a listing of your entries and to work out any initial errors, exceptions, etc.

  • Once your initial entry is set up (errors fixed, etc), minor changes to your entry will be considered on a case by case basis – please email me about any of these situations.

  • We will accept times update files until the final deadline of 6pm on June 9.  These files will be imported into Meet Manager as time changes ONLY.  Removals, switches, and additions cannot be part of this times update file.

  • After closing June 9, you will receive a psych sheet for the limited events.  If you have swimmers who have not made these events and are unlikely to scratch in, you may switch them to alternative events at that time.  I will provide you with a deadline for these switches.

Please remember to send in your entry check and also please ensure that all of your swimmers are properly registered with USA Swimming (don’t forget those college kids!).

Regards,
