CSC Coaches
PHIL GARVERICK - HEAD COACH AND GENERAL MANAGERAfter completing his own swimming career with Columbia Swim Club, Hickman High School and the University of Missouri Phil became head coach of CSC in 1999. Under his leadership the club has quadrupled in size and established national recognition with multiple top-level swimmers and through hosting prestigious meets such as the Missouri Grand Prix. In his career with CSC, Phil has coached three Olympic Trial/World Championship Trial Qualifiers and multiple National, Junior National and Top 16 Swimmers. He was Missouri Valley Senior Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2006 and received the American Swimming Coaches Association Award of Excellence in 2006. He is currently serving in his second year as the Senior Vice-Chair for Missouri Valley Swimming. In addition to his work with CSC, Phi is a volunteer assistant coach with the University of Missouri Swim Team. SARAH SMITH – HEAD AGE GROUP COACH/BUSINESS MANAGER |

| Sarah started coaching with CSC in 2000. After joining the CSC Staff Sarah helped to expand the age group program, which has increased from two lanes of swimmers in 2000 to more than one-hundred 12 and under swimmers today. In addition to her experience with CSC, Sarah coached for the Maverick Masters Swim Program in Omaha, NE and was head coach for Columbia Parks and Recreation Summer League team in 2002. She is an American Red Cross Instructor in Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR. Sarah has a Masters in Public Administration and Non-profit management from the University of Missouri and 10 years of non-profit administration experience. She was recognized as one of Columbia’s 20 under 40 young professionals in 2007 and was a finalist for Female Coach of the Year with the Women’s Intersport Network in 2008. In 2010 Sarah received the Age Group Coach of the Year for Missouri Valley Swimming and was a member of the 2010 American Swim Coaches Association Fellow Class. Off the pool deck Sarah oversees all membership and business management of CSC and is the Web Master. On deck she manages the Hickman Pool groups, coaches the Barracuda group and assists with the Dolphin group. Contact Coach Sarah |

| Amy started coaching with CSC in 2007. She started her own swimming career at age 8 on the Woodrail Sharks summer league team and swam for CSC through her senior year at Hickman. In addition to coaching CSC, Amy has taught in the learn-to-swim program at the University of Missouri and was the Head Coach of the Columbia Parks and Recreation Summer League team in 2009. She is a senior at Mizzou and is in the Journalism school studying Strategic Communications. Amy is the Dolphin Group Coach and also coaches the Barracuda Group. Contact Coach Amy. |

THOMAS BAUMANN – SENIOR GROUP COACH |

| Thomas was born in France and lived there until his 8th birthday when his family was relocated to Iowa. He started swimming when he was six and swam for Quincy Sheridan Swim Club for most of his swimming career. He swam for the University of Missouri, medaling twice in the 1650 at the Big 12 Championships . Thomas coached for University of Missouri for one year before coming to Columbia Swim Club in the summer of 2009. Thomas graduated with a degree in Art from the University of Missouri in May 2009 and when not coaching for CSC he is working on his portfolio and coaching the University of Missouri Swimming Team. Holly Payne – ASSISTANT COACH |

| Holly swam competitively with CSC for 8 years and with the Rockbridge High School team for two years receiving all-state honorable mention and was part of the MVS All academic Swim Team. Holly has taught lessons for 4 years with the Missouri Athletic Center and has managed the Missouri Athletic Center for two years. She has served as a volunteer coach for CSC. Holly is a junior at the University of Missouri majoring in biology/pre-med. |

| Lauren is from Columbia, MO and swam for CSC for 5 years and with Truman State prior to returning to Columbia to attend the University of Missouri. She served as female swimmer representative for CSC her senior year, was on the Missouri Valley Swimming Academic Team all 4 years of high school and Scholastic All-American sophomore, junior, and senior year. Lauren is a Certified CrossFit trainer. She is a nursing major/spanish minor at Mizzou and plans to be a nurse practitioner. |

Coleman Hodges is from Columbia, Missouri and joined Columbia
Swim Club when he was 9 years old. He was the swimmer rep for
the senior group his senior year and received the Carol Smith
award. He also swam for Rock Bridge High School his freshman
through junior year and finaled at State his sophomore and
junior years. Coleman has now graduated from Rock Bridge and is
attending the University of Missouri where he is majoring in
film studies. |

| Alexa Wohrley is originally from Wentzville, Missouri and began swimming on summer league at the age of 5 for the Wentzville Sea Dragon Swim Team. She then swam for the RecPlex Sharks until the age of 14 before switching to Clayton Shaw Park until the end of high school. She swam for Timberland High School all four years of high school and competed at the state level. She began coaching at the age of 15 for the Wentzville Sea Dragon team and is very excited to begin coaching with the CSC Tigersharks team! Alexa is now a junior attending The University of Missouri majoring in Elementary Education. |
